The aim of Green Lab at Perth College is to audit the current canopy coverage of the campus and then create a greening solution to improve canopy coverage.
Canopy coverage is very important to mitigate the negative effects of urban heat island effect and also to increase the interaction of the Perth College students and staff with their natural environment. This has been shown to improve well-being. By planting endemic plants it will also help to improve the biodiversity of the local area, providing food for endemic species.
Millennium Kids is providing access to professional expertise so that the students can increase their knowledge, so that they can develop a suitable greening solution that meets the needs of all stakeholders.
